Who we are and Our Mission...Established in 2002, PRH opened its Retirement Facility and Adoption Kennel in 2003. We work solely for the retired racing Greyhound by dedication to the breed and all facets of Greyhound life. Greyhounds...Bred for their ability to run fast and trained to think at high speed while navigating an oval with seven other hounds. An amazing sight is a greyhound in full flight with all feet off the ground and stretched out like the dog on the big bus! When their athletic days are over, these hounds take retirement very seriously. While some pursue a couch and a very quiet life, others prefer to play with children and frolic in the fun of a family suited for them. Most hounds are willing to adopt their new families routine and structure in a fairly short period of time. The purpose of PRH is to provide quality care for the dogs in our facility and place them into loving homes through the adoption process. As part of our adoption process, we offer ongoing support to help your hound adapt to its new environment. Our vision and desire is "The right hound in the right home with the right family." To obtain this we take into consideration personalities and lifestyles of the hound and the new owner. Greyhounds have a unique history that can be traced back many generations. They can reach speeds up to 45 miles per hour and run 5/16's of a mile in an average 31 seconds. They are beautifully proportioned athletes and one of the worlds best kept secrets, a secret that should be shared. Our mission is to educate the public about why greyhounds make great pets. Its often necessary to correct the misconception that Greyhounds need tons of exercise and eat pounds of food! Some can be more energetic than others just like people, but greys typically eat just about 4 cups of food per day! Be a part of Greyhound history, let one of these beautiful animals race into your home and heart.

Volunteers needed Monday thru Friday Mornings 9am - 12pm - Need an additional person or persons to assist with kennel work. This includes letting dogs out, cleaning crates, mopping, sweeping, cleaning yards up and cleaning carpet. Monday and / or Wednesday Mornings 9am - 12pm - WHEN NEEDED We could use an extra person on those days on a floating schedule. Those are our days we take dogs over to the vet for surgery. An extra person to stay at the kennel and help with kennel duties would be fantastic. This position can be somewhat floating due to our surgery day (Monday OR Wednesday) and sometimes we may not need to take dogs to the vet. Saturday / Sunday Mornings 9am - 12pm - We could use an extra person on a rotating schedule. 1 Saturday or Sunday a month would be great! Post Adoption follow up calls - This can be done from the kennel or from your home.. Light Secretary Duties - This can be done from your home. Web Specialist - With Facebook and RSS feed we would love to keep up with the times. If someone would want to build a website and teach others how to maintain it or help maintain it please contact the kennel.
